Festus

A really good friend in our ward is a veterinarian.  He knows about McRae's fanatical obsession with all animals.  So one day this summer he invited us out to his clinic to meet Festus--a baby miniature donkey.  The vet clinic inherited Festus when his mother died shortly after his birth.

It pretty much goes without saying that McRae was in heaven.  He fed Festus a bottle, gave him some pellets and was only mildly annoyed when Festus started "nipping" at his shorts.  That Festus sure was cute but kinda ornery.  Hey, come to think of it...kind of like the boy that adored him so much!  Okay, maybe not so much ornery as stubborn.  Good thing Festus won't be getting much bigger than he is in these pictures or the vets may have their hands full.  Can't say the same for that cute boy of ours though.  :)

 A family shot with Festus.

And how about a miniature cowboy for that miniature donkey?  My goodness...was he really ever that little?  That boy is growing WAY too fast.  He was only two months old in this picture.  This picture also shows our good friend, Gordon the vet.  Gordon's family moved to another state this summer and we REALLY miss them.  Such a great family who we love very, very much.  Good thing their new home is only one state away!
